Legal documents contain a precise and unambiguous language explaining the matters of law by
using a formulaic language often referred to as legalese, culture-bound in issues and explanation.
This means that legal documents are highly specialised in their nature and purpose and even small
modifications of single words might result in misleading consequences. Causing confusion, economic
loss or loosing lawsuits by misinterpretation are risks to be aware of.
Our translators are aware of the danger of misinterpreting the purpose and background of the
translation to be done. Therefore we will contact our clients whenever necessary to avoid such risks.
Legalese is very common and can lead to errors in understanding if used wrongly. Our aim is to avoid all
unnecessary legalese but to use specific terms where they are anticipated by the target language reader.
Legal systems like common law (e.g. England) and civil law (e.g. Germany) use a different legal terminology. It is impossible to translate texts automatically or by the sole use of a dictionary. Our legally trained translators know both systems and the differences between them; the target text becomes fully understandable for the reader of the translated text.
All translations will be double checked by a second translator prior to delivery. This guarantees our high quality standards. You will be sure of receiving an accurate and polished translation.
We build, maintain and provide (where required) glossaries of legal terms to ensure consistency in the translation process. This guarantees that every translation is identical in style to previous projects delivered to the client.
We have all the necessary resources for researching your legal documents. Legal libraries and their electronic counterparts like Lexis™ or JURIS are used as a research tool.
Our translators have access to our own-build legal glossaries and legal terminology database. Every workplace is equipped with state-of-the-art software which helps us to do our job. Different CAT (computer aided translation) tools are used to organise the work and to ensure the quality.
